Hiya! My name is Amy and I am a contemporary artist, maker, writer and doer of many creative things based in Liverpool, UK.

If there’s one thing I believe is important in life, it’s to spend your life doing what you love; there’s nothing I love more than creating!

From the time I could hold up a pencil, making has provided me with a sense of escape, and more simply, allowed me to get all of my overactive imagination out onto a page - or a wall - or wherever I saw fit at the time much to the dismay of my parents. Since my teenage years I have been an active participant in many theatre, film and book clubs which has strengthened my love for all things creative. Some might call it indecisiveness, but I think it is a true human nature to have curiosity to explore.

Alongside my experience freelancing in creative fields, I have spent a large portion of my life making a living through jobs in retail and customer service. These roles have given me skills to work in a team, along with an interest and passion for inclusive, accessible, and human-centered design.

Outside of work, I’m a record collector, cellist, plant and hike lover, baker, fantasy reader, and an avid fan of all things spooky!

WHAT I CAN

DO FOR YOU!

WHAT’S YOUR ART ABOUT?

Concerned with interactions of objects and memory - particularly those within domestic dwellings - my multidisciplinary practice explores the foundations of being human through the creation of surreal sculptures, absurd drawings and irrational spaces. Liverpool John Moores University alumni and past artist-in-residence at The Royal Standard Gallery, the hosts of my very first solo exhibition entitled ‘A DREAM OF HOME,’ I have worked with multiple Independent North-West based galleries and organisations such as Short Supply, Convenience Gallery, Air Gallery and Fronteer.

Through a process of self-reflection and influenced by psychoanalytic methodologies, I explore the relationships between people and their most influential environments. The things I create often unearth the influence of my childhood and my personal subconscious attachments to family and my childhood home, elevating conversations around topics such the nuclear family, social classes, domestic roles and generational trauma. Dedicated to pushing the boundaries of reality further into absurdism, I aim to challenge the functionality of art objects, weave together photography and sculpture, showcase memory through abstracted shapes and colours, and pose questions about the normality of domestic spaces.

Dealing with the autobiographical, my contemporary art practice revolves around the things that make up our identity; our memories, our presence within a space, and our presence within each other’s lives.
